A practical AttendMe guide

How to prepare a journal club with AttendMe

Move from a paper to a focused discussion, with the design, findings and limits visible.

01

Set the question and audience

Choose the paper, the audience and the time available. State the question the study addresses before reviewing its result.

02

Read the source

Open the original paper. If only an abstract is available, record that limit and leave unsupported details unanswered.

03

Appraise before presenting

Review study design, population, comparison, outcomes and limitations. Keep absolute numbers and their denominators attached to the source.

04

Prepare the discussion

Use the worksheet to separate findings from interpretation. The Fellow's generated preparation and downloads are available only in enabled accounts.

05

A worked workflow example

Prepare a 20-minute ICU journal club around the TEAM trial, PMID 36286256. This example shows the request and review process. It does not reproduce a generated draft or state the trial findings.

  1. Your input

Use: 'Prepare a 20-minute journal club on PMID 36286256 for ICU registrars. Focus on study design, the reported primary outcome, source limitations and three discussion questions.' The identifier distinguishes the original TEAM trial from correspondence about it.

  2. In AttendMe

Open Digital Fellow. If preparation is enabled, enter the request under Ask your Fellow and select Send request. Add missing details when asked. Open Review draft when a published revision is available. Otherwise, download the public journal-club worksheet and prepare the discussion manually.

  3. What you inspect

Check Question, Design, Population, Comparison, Supported findings, Limitations, Discussion questions, Source limitations and References. Open Inspect the source passages to check important claims. PDF, Editable Word and RIS provide the supported draft or its references; they do not add unseen evidence.

  4. Your reviewed result

Example review note, not a generated finding: 'Paper: PMID 36286256. Audience: ICU registrars. Duration: 20 minutes. Access: record the material available. Findings: check each supporting passage. Open questions: list unresolved details.' Use Revise request to correct the draft. Check the exported revision before presenting.

06

Before you reuse the result

Use this final check to decide whether the work is ready to discuss, save or continue. A useful output preserves its evidence, its scope and the questions it could not answer.

  • The title and PMID identify the original trial, not a related letter.
  • The draft audience and minutes match your request.
  • Each finding has a supporting passage and the source-access limit remains visible.
  • The presenter has checked the exported revision before using it.
